How To Perform Wudhu / Ablution
Wudhu is the act of washing parts of the body using clean water, as part of the preparation for ritual worship, namaaz.
Wudhu is often translated as "partial ablution", as opposed to ghusl, or "full ablution".
Prior to performing wudhu, it is important that you have completed the Istanjaa (cleaning the private parts of the body with clean water).

In Wudhu, it is obligatory to wash the face and hands, and to wipe the front portion of the head and the upper part of two feet.
After washing both the hands, one performing Wudhu should wipe the front part of his head with the wetness which is in his hand; the recommended precaution is that he should wipe it with the palm of his right hand, from the upper part, downwards.
Wudhu performed with najis or mixed water is void, even if one may not be aware of its being najis, or mixed, or may have forgotten about it.

The face is one of the essentials in wudhu, and must be washed at least once, or the wudhu is incomplete.
Wudhu does not need to be performed before every prayer, although this is recommended.
Each wudhu lasts for up to a day when not travelling, but must be performed again after going to the toilet, passing wind, bleeding heavily, contact with excrement, vomiting, falling asleep, and taking intoxicating substances.

 Wudhu [Ablution]
Once the four fardh acts of wudhu are carried out, wudhu will be regarded as complete, irrespective of whether one intended to make wudhu or not, eg.: (a) at the time of bathing, one pours water on the entire body, or (b) falls into a well, or river, or (c) stands in the rain.
If one had made wudhu for a particular salât, and thereafter the next salât time entered without the wudhu having broken, then it will be permissible to read salât with that same wudhu.
Once wudhu has been made and has not broken as yet, then as long as no act of worship (ibâdat) has been performed with that wudhu, it will be makruh to make a new wudhu.

Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) is reported to have said that when a person performs wudhu in the proper manner, all the (minor) sins that were committed are washed off by means of the wudhu.
This is in stark contrast to the amount of water that Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) used for his wudhu.
Hence it is necessary to become conscious of this important aspect and refrain from wasting water during wudhu.

When a person is asleep, he does not know if he has passed wind or not, therefore, a full sleep is regarded as a measure.
If a person is not fully asleep and he is aware of his condition, for example, if he passed wind, he would be aware of that, then such a sleep does not invalidate the Wudhu.
