Topic: Wudu

  The Ritual and Spiritual Purity
Wudu and ghusl both are ritual ablutions; the former is a minor ablution while the latter is a major ablution.
Wudu is not wajib for sunnat (recommended) prayers; but as the prayers whether obligatory or recommended are invalid without wudu, so we have to pray the sunnat prayers also with wudu.
As mentioned earlier, wudu is an act consisting of two stages (i) washing the face and hands; and (ii) wiping a part of the head and feet.

Wudu is often translated as "partial ablution", as opposed to ghusl, or "full ablution".
Theoretically, one can perform one wudu for fajr salaat and this wudu would be considered valid for the rest of the day.

Prayers are accepted when this simple form of ablution is done, and the wudu is valid unless the person passes gas, urinates, defecates, has skin contact with blood or bodily fluids, engages in sexual intercourse, sleeps, or vomits.
The reason for this is that when wudu is performed, the water is not able to reach the base of the nail, thus leaving it dirty.
In order to have a valid wudu, a woman would have to remove her nail polish while performing wudu but could reapply it afterwards.
