The new Wuhan University of Technology (WUT, 武汉理工大学) was established on May 27, 2000, as a key institution under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education by the authority of the State Council, P.R.China.
Bordering the South Lake, the new university is situated on the south bank of Changjiang River in Wuhan, a famous historical and cultural city in China.
WUT is nestled in luxurious foliage and remains evergreen throughout the year.

In 1911 Sun Yat-sen 's followers launched the Wuchang Uprising that led to the collapse of Qing Dynasty and the establishment of the Republic of China.
Wuhan was the capital of a Kuomintang government led by Wang Jingwei in opposition to Chiang Kai-shek during the 1920s.
The First Bridge at Wuhan was built over the Chang Jiang (Yangtze) river in 1957 carrying the railroad directly across the river between Snake (on the left) and Turtle Hill.
