Wumpscut - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Wumpscut (:Wumpscut: or :W:) is a well known EBM project from Germany.
Wumpscut first attracted the attention of a large audience with the release of the song "Soylent Green", which is named after the 1973 movie and also contains audio samples from the German dubbed version.
Wumpscut is also very well known for elaborate box set releases including limited versions of a CD or LP release in a box with additional and often also limited bonus material (bonus tracks, “liquid soylent” energy drinks, posters, pins, stickers, bags, flags, etc.).

Wumpscut: The same as with playing live: my head is full of very high quality images and be sure you cannot materialize them.
Wumpscut: She's my girlfriend for several years, meanwhile--and I like her language very much, so it just was a question of time to try.
Wumpscut: I initially met her during summer 2004, her voice seemed very promising, and here we are.

 Wumpscut -- Totemacher (Deadmaker)
Each CD leads with the original Wumpscut composition, followed by a number of remixes, alternating with a short (identical) German language movie sample.
The samples are useful in separating each musical experience, quite a necessity given the range of styles and forms, a functional compromise attempt to produce a remix CD which is still a comfortable listening experience.
Wumpscut fans will most certainly be pleased with the original mix, and given the significant number of skillful remixes, most will find other moments which quietly delight.

:wumpscut: have (or has - :wumpscut: is one person, Rudy Razinger) in recent years become one of the most important acts in the Euro-industrial/EBM sphere, right up there with the likes of Haujobb and Leæther Strip.
:wumpscut: also retain an ability to provoke in their imagery, largely courtesy of the decidedly dark artwork that adorns all :wumpscut: releases.
Well, the lyrics are pretty obvious, as the unwanted foetus taunts the mother-to-be about how it's going to ruin her life, how she's going to have to care for it for the rest of her miserable days, etc. However, Rudy's decided to get into character here, and the vocal treatments reflect this.

Wumpscut's newest release, 'Bonepeeler', retains those same themes, and while there are some excellent tracks on it, one can't help but feel as though Rudy might be running out of ideas for the project.
Most of the songs in the later part of the album are too quite and slow to be worthy of repeated play.

Always tragic, dramatic and faithfull to the cold sound, WUMPSCUT is still one of my favorite old school neo ebm bands from the beginning of 90's.

 Wumpscut - Bloodchild - Review
Unlike the dancier sounds of labelmates like VNV Nation and Covenant, Wumpscut tends to get a little bit more sludgy on most of the earlier tracks, while on others a bit of a newer edge comes into play.
One of the coolest parts about the release for fans of Wumpscut will be the rather large multimedia piece on the second disc.
Basically, the release boils down to being more of an appealing one to fans because it fills in the back catalogue and while there are some solid tracks, the newer material by the group is much more better.

The extended piece -- "Soylent Green" -- which opens the CD is this album's extreme manifestation of :Wumpscut:'s sound, and as such, the most successful -- by all means a great song.
In the spirit of the Charlton Heston sci-fi film of the same title, Ratzinger yells "soylent green" incessantly and insistently throughout the song like a warning, while samples from an alleged earlier German version of the film accentuate the atmosphere of paranoia.

Splendid Magazine reviews Wumpscut: Bone Peeler
Wumpscut's music doesn't deviate much from the template established by the style's pioneers, but in this case you can celebrate (or at least wear a red scarf over your dyed-fl coif); Bone Peeler's familiar sounds are nostalgic rather than clichéd, catchy instead of hopelessly trendy.
For example, you might roll your eyes when "The March of the Dead"'s introductory choir sample turns into the old "sample some old movie dialog that vaguely summarizes the song's subject" trick (in this case, "I'm gonna kill you, you, you...").
The track could fit nicely on Skinny Puppy's Remission; it's obvious that Wumpscut ingested his share of the material that mattered (and still matters) to the scene.
