Notorious for the controversy surrounding the judges decision, the Archibald Prize, is an extraordinary event in the Australian art world.
As part of the exhibition the Wynne Prize is awarded to the best landscape painting of Australian scenery or the best sculpture by an Australian artist.

The Essay Prize is named after a lecturer in English at the old South African College who was killed in 1917 while on active service during World War I. Soon after his death, his executor gave UCT 60 pounds as an endowment for an essay prize.
The prize has not been awarded till this year because of concerns that the rewording might have be contrary to the original intentions of the award.

Once the prize gets large, the payback percentage of the machine might be more than 100%, but unless they actually win that bonus jackpot before someone else does, they might lose an incredible amount of money.
Many players who have spent a lot of time at a particular machine are reluctant to leave it, even to go to the bathroom, because they believe that it's due to pay off and they do not want someone else to win their jackpot.

The annual Wynne Student Prize is hosted by the Western Branch of the Institution of Materials, Minerals and Mining, and is sponsored by the consultancy firm Wardell Armstrong.
Named after F H Wynne, a North Staffordshire Mines Inspector, the Prize is open to all students within the geographical area of the Western Branch, stretching from Cumbria in the north, through Lancashire and Staffordshire, to Shropshire in the south.
The prize was presented to Leigh by John Weston (no relation), Institution Branch president, in the presence of Wardell Armstrong directors at a reception hosted by Staffordshire University.

In 1916 Gruner finally achieved critical success with the painting above, which was awarded the Society of Artists Wynne Prize for Landscape Painting, and purchased by the Society gallery.
