After Mr Lloyd's special adviser Graeme Hallett told local member Ken Ticehurst and selected Wyong councillors via email that the grant could not be changed and he advised them to "keep their counsel", the head of the council's engineering services reported the dredging was still necessary.
In a letter sent to Mr Lloyd today, Wyong Mayor Brenton Pavier said he stood by council general manager Kerry Yates and his senior staff.
