Wyong Shire is located around the coastal lake system of Tuggerah Lake, Budgewoi Lake and Lake Munmorah.

The Shire stretches from Gwandalan in the north to Ourimbah in the south and from Norah Head in the east to Kulnura in the west.
Wyong Shire's six major townships and fifteen small centres are geographically scattered in pockets along the coastal fringe and the 121 kilometre shoreline of the Tuggerah Lakes System.
Wyong Shire Council adopted the New South Wales Library Act in 1959, and the Wyong Branch in Anzac Avenue, opened to the public in the same year.

The Wyong Shire Council on the central coast of New South Wales is investigating whether it has the power to force a Lake Macquarie family to remove a Nazi swastika flag flying in their backyard.
The council says local residents have been complaining about the flag and the family has been given a notice recommending it be removed.
Wyong Mayor Brenton Pavier says if it is not taken down by tomorrow, the council may take further action.

The respective officers responsible for the plans in the two councils were contacted and asked to respond to the questions from their own experience of developing and implementing the plan.
It must also be said that subsequent to faxing the questionnaires to the two Council officers the author felt that some of the questions, perhaps a majority, would be interpreted as critical of their practices in the admittedly difficult task of managing complex ecosystems in an equally complex socio-economic context.

In 2004, and after unsuccessful attempts had been made by others to extend the original work by Shirley Consulting Engineers, the firm was re-engaged by the Wyong Shire Council to undertake a comprehensive investigation of the entire Wyong Shire coastline and to provide detailed hazard management options.

History of Wyong Shire fluoridation: Fluoride was introduced to the Wyong Shire public water supply in April 1967 following debate by the Council between 1963 and 1966.
We are continuing to lobby and inform Wyong Shire Councillors about fluoridation in the hope that they will finally conduct a community consultation poll.

LOUISE YAXLEY: The Deputy Mayor of Wyong Shire Council is Bob Graham, a former Liberal member of State Parliament, but he quit the party more than 10 years ago.
He says when the heavy rain came in October, and it opened up the Tumbi Creek, he asked the Wyong engineer if some of the money that had been promised could be used instated for much-needed projects upstream on Tumbi Creek.
BOB GRAHAM: The engineer came back to me and said no, it was about, it was only about a thousand cubic metres that had been pushed out into the lake, and that was only a small portion of what would be needed, and so nothing more came from it from there.

This printed report relates to the erosion of beaches within the Great Lakes Shire and was prepared by the Civil Engineering Division of the Public Works Department.
This printed report, of which there are two copies, was prepared for Gosford City Council and Wyong Shire Council and presents the results of the Department's investigations into the sizing and timing of water supply distribution works required to meet the needs of the two local government areas to the year 2010.
In 1985 the Gosford-Wyong Water Supply Section completed feasibility reports for the Gosford City Council and Wyong Shire Council into the technical feasibility, economics and environmental effects of alternative schemes for augmentation of the joint Gosford-Wyong water supply scheme for long term water supply requirements for the region.

The Tuggerah Lakes and their catchment constitute the major part of Wyong Shire.
The Wyong adaptive management project brief was to develop a modelling tool to assist both Council and the community to evaluate potential management strategies in the light of a significant increase in population growth in the catchment over the next twenty or so years.
The workshops evolved the outline of a systems model which has been further developed by the consultants into a tool to assist in the management of the Lakes and their catchment.
