In At The Deep End Records iatde026 - Love That Kills - To cruel Nails Surrendered MCD
With an emphasis on early Poison The Well-esque dynamics and sonic bludgeon, this debut six track EP from the Kent-based five piece is a welcome addition to the UK metalcore scene.
The former lungs from bruisers The Break In and the riffs of XCanaanX all pile into a melody-infused gothcore cul de sac where It Dies Today twitch the net curtains and Integrity lazily trim the pivet.
Featuring ex-members of xCanaanx and Raiden there is little surprise that Love That Kills are pretty hardcore, and I'm not talking the glo-sticks and E variety.

With a recent line-up change and an even more hectic touring schedule building, xCanaanx seem to be set for the chance they deserve to devastate the world with their intensely heavy hardcore and perfectly executed straight edge message.
xCanaanx (the x's being a declaration of their straight-edge lifestyle by the way) go leaps and bounds beyond and leave you with no choice other than to stand back in amazement at their incredibly tight, technical yet moshy sound that defines the fineline between chaos and rhythm.
xCanaanx are most obviously a straight-edger's paradise, with crushing music and a proud and clear self-belief.

Metal and hardcore fans might really eat xCANAANx's stuff up, as it sounds pretty tight and there are probably all kinds of good things about it, but to these ears it's just a bunch of noise.
Technical yet moshy, xCanaanx have the right to establish themselves as some force on the strength of this release.
XCanaanX don't get in above their heads; sure, they use metallic riffs and blast beats a lot, but the songs are simpler and easier to listen to than their evolved brother...- the metalcore beast.

This article is about The Break In, an influential underground Chicago suburbs rock band.
For the British band of the same name, please see The Break In (UK) or xCanaanx for more information.
The Break In formed in May of 2003, encompassing a boiling teenage angst in the western Suburban area of Chicago that would go on to fuel a majority of songs off their still unreleased and unpressed EP People Passing and Body Mashing.

Locking themselves in their practice space in Folkestone in the Southeast of England, Winter in June saw their style evolve from that of metallic hardcore a la Strife and Shutdown into the uncompromising, Swedish-influenced, Progressive-style of Punk rock they play today.

Winter in June’s 1st demo was released as the tracks on the split with Urotsukidoji on Ignition records and this acclaimed release gained WIJ radio play on the continent and a tour with Sweden’s Nine (Burning Heart recs) in 2002.

With the mighty and already well-established xCANAANx keeping the fl heart of the South beating, and their "friends in the north" TSUA continuing their understated reign as one of, if not the most devastating band from our Northern territory, this is bound to refresh the British hardcore scene.
The two tracks on xCANAANx's A-side are definite signs of both progression and a band that have run a fine-toothed comb through their methods of delivery.
The other notable aspect of xCANAANx are the vocals which not only tear at your ear drums but are brought forth with the conviction and intensity required if you"re delivering xCANAANx's type of message.

The show started around 8 (I guess Italy is the only country where concerts always start after 11 pm...) and the first band on the bill were THE BREAK IN.
I hadn't listened to any of their material before, so besides the good things I had heard, I didn't know what to expect: Anyway it didn't take much for me to assume that this quintet plays classic, metallic hc in the vein of Until The End and Figure Four.
The crowd's answer was good, as the shouter sporadically passed the mic to some kids and the moshpit was relentless but not violent.

We want to take this opportunity to thank everybody who has supported this band and who continue to do so as we go through this stage.
Reduced from a quintet to a quartet, there was a fear that given former guitarist Darren's songwriting credits with Canterbury's canonised heavyweights xCANAANx, Love That Kills wouldn't be quite the same.
The obvious sign of a masterplan in the unfolding, Santa Karla produced this three-track demo (in a rainbow of limited colour sleeves) in a matter of weeks from having changed their name and the clarity of vision with regards to sound is outstanding (there's even some guest vocals from Bossk's Sam Marsh).

The UK metalcore scene is in rude health at the minute and there's currently nothing cooler than singing about razors and wings and dark nights and darker blood over crunching breakdowns and riotous thrash riffs.
South East hardcore kids Love That Kills seem to be on to a winner with this, their debut release, and with quite a history already behind them (you may recognise former members of XcanaanX, Raiden, and The Break In), the pressure is on.
The title track slips into spooky atmospherics, 'The Great Depression' tries to forge some melody from the madness and 'Head First...', exploding with rapier-sharp riffs and broken-hearted spoken words, employs all the catchier tricks of the metalcore trade.

Guitarist Dan has taken over vocal duties — though Nate from xCanaanx sang on their upcoming album — and it seems like a brave move.
Basically, the band's crunchy, muscular metallic hardcore requires strong vocals and Dan's seem more suited to an old school band, they lack the bite you'd hope for.
