		A 25mm HEAT shell for the XM25 and XM307 would be a secondary type of round and, as stated in the article, really only meant for light AFVs like Type 531s, BTRs, BRDMs and the like, as well as blow holes through hard cover like building walls.

		I was also a bit skeptical on the XM25 idea when it first started appearing on these discussion boards, but have since seen a good deal of writing on it in Army Times and other sources.
		Basically, the idea is that the 25mm grenade launcher portion of the OICW (20mm having been a bit too anemic, apparently) is ready to go.
		Hopefully maturing sensor technology and other improvements will allow them to reduce the total package to a manageable size, but in the meantime they are going to field the XM25 to get the proximity-fuzed airburst GL into service.

		After the project was scrapped (because it was a piece of shit) the military pursued the concept as two different systems.
		The lower carbine was given a facelift and renamed the XM8, basically a shitty G36, and the launcher was pursued as the XM25.
		The XM25 differed from the original launcher on the XM29 only slightly, now it fires a 25mm instead of a 20mm (so no, it's not a 40mm).
