XML editor - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Specific XML editors, however, have facilties like word-completion and menus and buttons for tasks that are common in XML editing, based on data supplied with DTD.
There are also graphical XML editors that hide the code in the background and present the content to the user in a more user-friendly format, approximating the rendered version.
Users often look for WYSIWYG XML editors when they don't understand that the goal of XML is to separate the meaning of the elements (which is supposed to be encoded in an adapted XML language) from the way they are displayed (which is supposed to be defined for instance in an XSL or CSS stylesheet).

XML: In search of a good editor
XML Spy, for now, is the current editor of choice (10/14/99), but we aren't going to stop looking.
For starters, this is the first editor I've installed whose installer asked normal things like, "would you like this to be your default XML editor" and "would you like a shortcut on your desktop." Usually the assumption is "yes" and "yes," with no question.
Someone whose notion of an ideal editor equates to a word processor will probably be quite distressed by the two- or three-pane windows that many of the current XML editors use (element tree to the left, content to the right).

 XML Base
Relative URIs appearing in an XML document are always resolved relative to either an element, a document entity, or an external entity.
It is the intention of XML Base that future specifications and revisions of XML vocabularies identify which parts of the XML document are considered to be URIs, and provide normative reference to this specification in order to ensure that relative URIs are treated consistently across XML documents.
The XML Datatypes specification might want to require that applications recognizing this datatype and resolving such URIs be aware of XML Base.
