In 1987, with the success of X11 becoming apparent, MIT wished to relinquish the stewardship of X, but at a June 1987 meeting with nine vendors, the vendors told them they believed that a neutral party was required to keep X from fragmenting in the marketplace.

I have been doing some thinking and IMHO this should be the port that is going to get the title `xorg' or `x11' or `xserver'.
If people want to test other versions like my xorg and xouvert port from CVS that's fine but I think most people just want a working, up-to-date, stable and legally unencumbered Xserver and this is it.

some of what is presented on this first one is clearly broken so one feature of xorg is that it is a bit unstable and the build is somewhat broken as per it's more aggressive stance.
xorg because it's traditional relationship with sun has always contained some sparc and java related fixes sometimes not in xfree yet for lack of direct access.
often features like xprint appear to be in xorg but not xfree but this is not the case or they may not include xprint in xfree i'm not sure.
