It is a 10 milion dollars prize for the first team that will put a crew of 3 people into space using the same ship within a window of 2 weeks. The whole research must be funded by private funds ant not guvernamental ones.
Yes, one of my life's biggest dream is to see the earth live from outer space.I am optimistic and i believe that with a bit of luck this could happen.Of course, without paying millions...
There are now 20 teams competing in XPrize and one of them is from Romania.Their ship is called Orizont.I am very proud of them.
Perhaps the most well known current prize is the "XPrize." $10 million will be given to the first group who can safely launch and land a reusable suborbitalspacecraft twice in two weeks.
The XPrize was created to jump-start a languishing area of research and human endeavor.
With an XPrize for anti-aging research, we would have the chance to turn that all around: publicity, competing researchers, goals that the public could understand, appreciate and cheer for.
I had the distinct honor and pleasure of being asked to photograph X1 and X2 for the Ansari XPrize Foundation http://www.xprize.org/ For X1 I was asked to take candids of VIPs primarily...not the event per se.
Thanks, I plan to shoot with my 70-200 f/4L and a TC1.4, the 300mm is just too heavy to hold 2 days in one week.
This just goes to show what the 300D is capable of with an L lens.
The MMP will be awarded for producing the longest-lived laboratory mouse by utilization of the fruits of research within the related fields of study around anti-aging medicine.
The reader may well have seen the XPrize spoke of recently on national news with the story that Burt Rutan of "Voyager" fame is about to test fly his own design into space to win the XPrize.
The creator of the Xprize, Peter Diamandis, did also wisely employ the Internet for the possibility of growing the prize by public sponsorship.

What the XPRIZE could very well do is to jump-start a part of space exploration that is based on the active participation of regular Americans."
The team behind the XPRIZE say: "The mission of the XPRIZE Foundation is to create a future in which the general public will personally participate in space travel and its benefits.
Organizing and implementing competitions to accelerate the development of low-cost spaceships for travel, tourism and commerce.

I traveled to Mojave, CA for X0 as thousands of others did, the day before the launch I drove out to the wind generator farm on the hill and happened to meet 6 of the Ansari XPrize Foundation Special Operations crew.
After seeing the images I created for X0, the Ansari XPrize Foundation asked me to come back for X1 and X2 and shoot for the foundation!

For those of you who don't follow this sort of thing, this is the first private craft to go to outer space twice in 14 days, thus winning the $10 million XPrize.
The only thing that sucks is was backed by Microsoft billionaire Paul Allen, too bad a Charles Lindberg type didn't do it with meager funds it would have been a better story.
