Alicia - current unicorn Emperess of Xanadu whose seemingly frivolous and voracious sexual appetites hide a cunning political skill and a reformer's social conscience.
The comics are noted for an atypical focus on romantic adventure orientation for fantasy with a tone closer to The Princess Bride than other works.

Comics sold that high because collectors were buying multiple copies of the same issues, everyone wanted all of the variant covers and speculators invaded thinking they could get rich on comics.
Comics may have sold more but that does not translate to it being a healthly industry.
If you want to talk about the fall of comics then compare it to a time (and they do exist) when the comics market was not artificially inflated by the influx of speculators during the 80's.

Though it was nice to learn comic book industry watchers had estimated sales of $300 million which would be a return to sales we hadn't seen in 7 years.

The writer said his biggest influence on this tale, outside of the screen play he was given to work with, was the comics he read growing up.
It's actually a combination of original comics writing and solving a vast complicated crossword puzzle - there are great elements of intellectual stimulation.

"Xanadu", "The place where nobody dared to go", was what the song stated and audiences listened as they stayed away in droves making it a critical and financial disaster.
"Xanadu" is a weird and wonderful mix of fantasy, comedy, music and dance, you'll either love it or hate it, whatever the case may be, the ending at the roller disco is nevertheless spectacular to look at, even after all these years.
With its well choreographed dance routines, fast editing and its excellent use of fashion, colour and sound Xanadu's ending is a predecessor of the MTV style music videos that would hit TV screens a few years later.

Failing to find any copies of the seemingly rare book, I e-mailed Mike at Ralph's Comic Corner, which also employs Dorian and is visited by Ian (among many other bloggers, I'm sure), to see if a copy was available there.
A few days later, the book, safely packed along with a few other comics, arrived in my mailbox.
Don't take my word for it, though--Disney comics history falls outside my limited and apparently shrinking knowledge of the four-color realm.

Written and drawn by Vikki Wynman, "Xanadu" is a series of tales set in a magical fantasy world, centering around the exploits of: Tabbe Le Fauve, a Domestique feline thief; Fatima, Tabbe's Freeborn vixen lover; and Empress Alicia, the Noble unicorn ruler of Xanadu.
This is a hard series of comics to find, but definitely well worth the effort.

Consider that most Disney comics issues rarely continue from one issue to the next, and thus are not perishable.
Well, I see nothing odd or bad about producing comics for kids, and Egmont seems to be very successful in Scandinavia, so I don't think they see any reason to change to producing their books more for fans, like Gladstone does with much smaller circulation.
But I'm constantly hearing of people launching in-depth indexes to Disney comics even though they were all thoroughly indexed in the late 60s and early 70s (albeit in magazines that many current collectors are not familiar with).

So anxious (or Schreck-like) is Vicki to accept this invitation that she performs COMIC BOOK CLICHE #137: Diving head-first into her closet, throwing out a boa, a glove and other miscellaneous articles of clothing.
After a double page montage of modeling/trying on clothing (while poor Alfred--it's the same shot of him looking at his pocketwatch, so I'm not sure if he's waiting for a long time or timing her) Vicki is attired in a white strapless gown and gloves.
