 Xaverian Brothers
The Xaverians decided to make Baltimore the centre of their activities in the United States, and they purchased a site just beyond the western limits of the city, where in 1876 a novitiate for the United States was opened.

The brothers are to bind themselves by the three vows of religion, and are to dedicate themselves to the instruction of youth, in any country to which they may be sent, and in which they may live according to the spirit of their congregation.

The spirit of the Xaverian Brothers, on the other hand, can be be traced to the influence of the Jesuit confessor and counsellor of Mr.
