Cambron says she called Becerra’s office, saying, “He should know better, that a draft would send even more poor African American, Latino, white youth to fight for another unjust war.” She then alerted Latino peace activists of what Becerra said in the interview.
Becerra thinks this could prevent disproportionate numbers of minorities and poor suffering military casualties, and with more affluent youth at risk opposition to war would be overwhelming, said the aide.
Peace activists in Becerra’s district are urging opponents of the draft to call Becerra’s Washington office (800-839-5276) and ask him to oppose the draft and work to bring the troops home.

I was sad for Xavier Becerra, and for the entire Jewish community, because of some of the obnoxious, arrogant and inaccurate things Sheldon Teitelbaum said during his interview with the mayoral candidate ("One on One With Xavier Becerra," March 30).
When Becerra talked of adding 300 teachers to LAUSD, Teitelbaum said sarcastically, "How many kids on the Westside attend public schools?" Well, I know that my son and many other Jewish kids attend an excellent LAUSD school on the Westside that has remarkable teachers and an amazing principal.
Without intending to, Teitelbaum made us, as Jews, look like elitist and isolated folks, when in fact there are hundreds of thousands of Jews in Los Angeles who do care about public education, crime prevention, and mutual respect between classes and races.

That's right, our very on Xavier Becerra finally made it in there with a pretty spiffy parody of Access Hollywood/Entertainment Tonight prefacing the interview.
The interview is actually pretty painful, as Becerra takes none of the bait that Colbert offers (though he doesn't ask the Abramoff question).
