		I find xeyes strangely amusing, even though (or perhaps because) this thing is a 15 year-old anachronism.
		If you run xeyes and expand it to many times its size and then run Expose, Expose slows to a crawl.
		xeyes was the first X11 app I ran..

		After that the smaller packages can be combined to make optional large packages for people who just like to "install everything".
		So if it was my decision, I would make a package for the X Windows base, one each for xedit, xeyes, etc., one containing all of xedit, xeyes, etc., and finally one with everything like there is now.
		This way X.org would require less disk space and, more importantly, people's filesystems would be simpler in many cases.

		I know that the source is supposed to be out there some where, but I can't seem to find it.

		Fedora Core 3 no longer includes the xeyes utility as part of xorg-x11- tools.
