Xi Kang (Simplified Chinese: 嵇康; Traditional Chinese: 嵇康; pinyin: Xī Kāng or Jí Kāng, born in 奚康 during the Wei Jin transition 223-262) was a Chinese author, poet, Taoist philosopher, musician, and alchemist.
Xi Kang was highly critical of Confucianism and challenged many social conventions of his time.
Xi Kang was one of the Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove.

This TV series is the description of the life of Emperor Kang Xi, the Qing emperor whose reign of China is the longest.
Most of it was true, with the exception on the part of unification of Taiwan, but the show should be viewed as entertainment not historical docudrama (which it qualifies if the part regarding Taiwan was discarded.)
