 "Hypertext Manual: Software"
Xircon is an IRC program that allows members of the group to log in to a chat room so that the members can communicate with each other.
Xircon will allow people from anywhere to meet and discuss issues just as if they were on a conference call on the telephone.
Xircon is easily downloaded from the Internet, just visit their site @ http://www.Xircon.com/ and follow the links for downloading.

XiRCON has a lot of nice features, it allows multiple server connections easily and uses tcl for it's scripting language which is also used in X-Windows.
A lot of the XiRCON scripts I've seen [including my own, 'penance'] have 'Nethack protection' which basically monitors for anyone riding in on a split server and deops them or devoices them, it will also warn you if the person joins from a split even if they didn't get oped or whatever.
With XiRCON you can connect to another server in a different window and so be on both sides of the split at the same time, this is also very handy.

When submitting a script, please be sure to include the version number and a brief description of its functions.
This script works with XiRCON 1.0 Beta 4 and prevents the client from crashing when joining channels which have an invalid channel creation time.
It is commonly accepted as the best full script for XiRCON, a reputation which is well deserved.

ISS X-Force Database: xircon-client-command-dos(9516): XiRCON large client command denial of service   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-06)
XiRCON version 1.0 Beta 4 and possibly earlier versions are vulnerable to a denial of service attack.
If a remote attacker sends an overly long nickname or channel name using the ctcp, privmsg, msg, or notice command to a XiRCON client, the attacker could cause the victim's client to disconnect from the IRC host.
CVE-2002-1967: Buffer overflow in XiRCON 1.0 Beta 4 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (disconnect) via a long (1) ctcp, (2) primsg, (3) msg, or (4) notice command.

It seemed as though Fly felt it, too, as the frown on her face indicated that this person was not an ally.
This time it really was Xircon, but to see the two of them standing face to face was somewhat unnerving.

A namespace is implied when the XiRCON commands are created, but we all know what "assume" breaks down to.
All XiRCON commands reside in the ::IRC namespace (except XiRCON's unknown command; it sits in ::XiRC because I consider it a kludge).
The only efficient way to do threading is the assembly-line approach, and blocking XiRCON's thread waiting for the event to come around in Tcl's event system is a wasted effort as it has NO benifits.

One of the more impressive features in XiRCON is the userlist manager, which utilizes advanced algorithms to intelligently ban, ignore, or notify you of specific individuals.
Also included in the XiRCON package is the scripting editor Xed (XiRCON Editor) for creating and modifying scripts.

Also, XiRCON's 'unknown' command, (not the one provided by init.tcl because stock XiRCON never sourced an init script), has been renamed to '::XiRC::unknown' because I consider it a kludge.
Script authors shouldn't need to concern themselves about the handling of unknowns, as it's handled by xircrc.tcl internally.
