		On 17 Mar 75 the NVA Sixth and Seventh Divisions attacked Xuan Loc but were repulsed by the ARVN 18th.
		These men managed to virtually destroy 3 NVA Divisions, but on 17 Apr 75 they were overwhelmed by sheer numbers and the weight of the "Mass." Before overrunning Xuan Loc the NVA had committed six full divisions, plus a host of various support troops.

	THE SILENCING OF DISSENT
		Reportedly detained in Z30A prison camp, Xuan Loc, Dong Nai province; when the U.N. Special Rapporteur on Religious Intolerance tried to visit Thich Hue Dang there in October 1998, he was told that he was not in the camp.
		On October 30, 1987 he was convicted, along with twenty-two others, of security offenses, including "conducting propaganda to oppose the socialist regime and undermining the policy of unity and the disruption of public security." He was sentenced to twenty years' imprisonment and is now suffering from mental problems.
		A member of the Movement for a Free Vietnam, he was arrested on July 3, 1977 and charged with "conspiring to overthrow the government." In 1978 he was sentenced to life imprisonment, which was reduced to twenty years' in 1994.

		When the enemy launched a three pronged attacked against the city of Xuan Loc during the joint North Vietnamese/Viet Cong Tet Offensive, the troop was deployed to the police station which was bearing the brunt of the assault.
		Through their relentless perseverance, singular bravery, and tactical proficiency, the troop's members were instrumental in the successful defense of the city of Xuan Loc.

		XUAN LOC - Troops of a 25th Division mechanized unit, teaming with Regional Forces (RFs) of Xuan Loc District, recently killed 56 enemy during a combined operation four miles south west of here.
		The facilities at the clinic in Xuan LOC, which cares for Tropic Lightning 2nd Brigade troops are similar to those at its sister institution in Dau Tieng.
		At 1st Brigade headquarters in Dau Tieng, medics of the 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry help run the aid station, while in Xuan Loc, battalion corpsmen share the facility with their counterparts in the 11 Field Force's 5th Battalion, 2nd Field Artillery.

		After a brief return to Xuan Loc, we occupied FSB Mike (23-26 June).
		The 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, based at Blackhorse south of Xuan Loc, provided I Troop for our perimeter's defense, which probably explains why we had no probes of our position in spite of all the activity around us.

		The odd assortment of vehicles made the convoy difficult to protect, gaps in the column were a concern for the commander.
		The vehicles were transporting supplies and documents to a recently established base about 12 Kilometers south of Xuan Loc.
