Xujiahui was part of the former "French Concession" of Shanghai.
The Xujiahui subway station located on Line 1 is one of the busiest stations in the metro system.

On Sunday morning we took a short taxi to Xujiahui Catholic Cathedral, which is at the western end of the French Concession.
This Cathedral was originally known as St. Ignatius Cathedral and was built in 1904 by the Jesuits.
Even with the sound system it was difficult for me to understand the sermon due to the mandarin spoken with a heavy Shanghainese accent.

On New Year's Day I decided to brave the cold and surprisingly dry air and venture to Xujiahui to meet with someone for a potential language exchange.
I entered the Metro station at Chifeng Lu and walked up the stairs, swiped my fare card to enter the system, paused for a second to make sure I was heading in the right direction, and took the escalator up to the boarding area.
I arrived at Xujiahui, proceeded to get a little lost, and eventually found the Starbucks there.

we got out of the bus as well., coz that 3 ladies said we can reach xujiahui by 1 stop, but who knows....

The campus in XuJiaHui is around 240000 squaremeter large, and since it is located downtown in one of the main commercial districts in Shanghai, there is no possibility to expand the area.
That's why the new campus in Minhang is currently built (with 2000000 squaremeter).
