(Estrin, Hotz, Li, Rekhter, Zappala) We have completed a specification for the SDRP forwarding protocol and are working on other aspects of the protocol such as route construction and setup.
(Estrin, Hotz and Rekhter) Link-state algorithms are one of two broad categories of routing algorithm used in conjunction with hop-by-hop forwarding in existing connectionless Network Layer protocols, such as IP or CLNP.
However, it may turn out to be useful to introduce yet another mechanism for supporting groups in which the number of receivers is not the limiting factor and in which the optimality of paths in the face of path asymmetry is more important.

The chess games of Yakov Estrin
Yakov Borisovich Estrin was born April 21, 1923 in Moscow.
After a brief foray into over-the-board play, he turned to correspondence chess in the early 1960's with immediate success (joint first place in the U.S.S.R. Correspondence Championship in 1962.) He became a CGM (Correspondence Grandmaster) in 1966, and would go on to compete in the final of the World Correspondence Championship five times.

Yakov Estrin vs Hans Berliner (1965)
If Berliner had lost a subsequent game then it would mean when he played this game he was in fact just lucky, but not that his play was entirely sound.
In the later game it was Estrin who varied from this game and, as he won, on the surface he would appear to have played a better game.
Estrin Berliner has become a fundamental game for anyone who wants to play Ng5 in the two knights defense.

Deborah Estrin gave an overview of SDRP, noting the specification for SDRP has not changed since the last meeting.
Further work remains to be done in defining the requirements for anycasting, but there appears to be nothing in the SDRP specification that would be a substantial limitation.

ChessBase.com - Chess News - The greatest chess game ever played...
It’s pretty tough to make such a grandiose claim, but Estrin-Berliner from the 5th Correspondence World Championship has as good a claim as any to that lofty title.
Hans Berliner, on his way to the title, produces a fearsome novelty against future correspondence champion Yakov Estrin in the latter’s specialty, the Two Knights Defense.
Berliner’s opening idea was so deep that it is still debated to this day, and needless to say, Estrin could not even begin to solve everything, even under the relatively leisurely time controls afforded by correspondence chess.

However Yakov had to attend the ROLC meeting in Braden's absence and was unable to present this in detail.
Several of these issues were not discussed in adequate detail because of Deborah Estrin's sudden departure in response to the LA fires.

 Patzer's ½ Point
Berliner prepared this innovation in the extremely sharp Ulvestad variation and the subsequent complications especially for Estrin who was a known expert in the Two Knights Defence.
Not only was Yacov Estrin the seventh World Correspondence Champion, but he was also quite a good OTB player in Russia and throughout his career he locked horns (sometimes successfully) with such Russian stars as Keres, Bronstein, Korchnoi, Spassky, Taimanov, Nezhmetdinov, Smyslov, Petrosian, Tal, and Karpov.
Facing the former World Champion who is noted for his attacking style and his extensive knowledge of e4 openings was a challange.

However, Brasilsky picked Yakov Estrin who was a strong master, and more importantly, a great expert on opening theory.
What is more, Brasilsky wanted to challenge Estrin on the latter’s battlefield — in the Two Knights’ Defence in which Estrin was the greatest connoisseur (curiously, some years later Brasilsky edited Estrin’s book on the Two Knights’ Defence!).
Certainly, deep down Brasilsky was suffering because he had not become a master, but he never envied anyone.

The best is GrahamBurgess's 1995 book 'gambits', which does a good job of discussing motivations for gambits and types of compensation, but in my opinion the author uses the term 'gambit' too loosely and many of his examples are positional sacrifices and not what I would call gambits at all.
Yudovich's little book 'The Gambit' just dips into a few topics that interest the author; Yakov Estrin's 'Bauernopfer in der Eroeffnung' was likewise skimpy and unsystematic; Raymond Keene's 1990 'The Complete Book of Gambits' is certainly far from complete!
One can speak of a gambit (as opposed to a middle-game pawn sacrifice) when it is part of a recognised opening sequence, such as the Marshall Counter-Gambit against the Ruy Lopez/Spanish (1 e4 e5 2 Nf3 Nc6 3 Bb5 a6 4 Ba4 Nf6 5 0-0 Be7 6 Re1 b5 7 Bb3 0-0 8 c3 d5!?).
