The Emperor and the Assassin is too limiting a title for the new film by Chinese fifth generation director Chen Kaige (that's pronouned kai-guh), the director who also gave us Temptress Moon and Farewell My Concubine.
Emperor is yet another beautifully shot Chinese period piece, which also means that the female star is the woman with perfect skin, Gong Li (The Chinese Box, Shanghai Triad, and pretty much every other epic film to come out of China in the past decade).
The Emperor and the Assassin is still better than many domestic films, but if you want to watch a large scale Chinese period piece, you may want to rent one of the earlier ones.

Li Yan also said to the emperor: “The troop has made a false retreat, in order to draw out the enemies and battle them.” Zhuge Liang presented all the letters and memorials written by Li Yan, which were self-contradicting from beginning to end.

Finally, both the Lunyu and Fa yan can be characterized as works of frustration that lament the political instability of their respective times, the tendency of princes and officials to overstep their roles, and the failure of Confucius (Kongzi) and Yang Xiong to gain recognition or to exercise political influence.
For example, in Fa yan 8:21, there is a terse passage that reads, “The Red and Black Bows and Arrows do not amount to having it.” Centuries earlier the Imperial house of the Zhou dynasty awarded princes a set of bows and arrows as symbol of investiture to punish all within their jurisdiction.
In Fa yan (Words to Live By) and in the autobiographical section of his biography, however, Yang Xiong stresses that, like earlier poets, he envisioned the primary purpose of these works to be remonstrance - a dangerous political task widely recognized as one of the most central duties of the Confucian scholar.

Also, one of the wives of Yellow Emperor was from the Pink Fish tribe, and another wife was from the tribe Xiling which also means West Hill, and Emperor Yan was supposedly conceived when lightening and a dragon's shadow struck his mother near Hua Hills.
An apparent explanation is: he was born in the Yellow Emperor "have bear" tribe and married into the reptile tribe, but later was expelled; when he left he took his son, instead of letting the boy stay with the maternal tribe as was normal in a matriarchal society.
The monster face also relates to a legend about Emperor Yan's follower who continued to fight after his head was chopped off, using his nipples as eyes and navel as mouth, which was probably a burial ritual for headless fighter corpses.
