Tsim Sha Tsui East is the reclaimed land of Hung Hom Bay, east of Tsim Sha Tsui.
The KCR East Rail was extended from Hung Hom to East Tsim Sha Tsui in late 2004.

Its name is the contraction of the first characters of three of its areas: Yau Ma Tei, Tsim Sha Tsui, and Mong Kok.

Yau Ma Tei, also Yaumatei, Yau Ma Ti or Yaumati (Chinese: 油麻地 or 油蔴地; pinyin: Yóumádì), is an area in the Yau Tsim Mong district, in the south of the Kowloon peninsula in Hong Kong.
Yau Ma Tei is served by Tsuen Wan and Kwun Tong lines on the MTR metro system, at a single station with the same name.
It is proposed that Yau Ma Tei will no longer be the terminus of the line as there will be two new stations, Ho Man Tin and Whampoa, on the plan of Kwun Tong Line extension.
