  Pre-conditions
There are some specialists who argue that the Yawata Ironworks was wisely modelled on German rather than on American plants because the demand structure in Germany, with many types of steel produced in small quantities, was quite similar to the demand structure in Japan.
The nucleus of skilled workers at Yawata was a group of less than 20 German foremen, who returned to Germany in 1904-1905, and 10 skilled workers dispatched from the Kamaishi Ironworks.
At Yawata, former coal-miners, transportation workers (who had worked in transportation on the Onga River until they lost their jobs to the railway), and villagers who had gained machine skills during construction of the ironworks became full-time workers and eventually skilled workers.

In Yawata, several teachers told their homerooms that the Jets were dangerous and likely to attempt to molest, rape, or otherwise do harm to them.
In Yawata many teachers do not realize that the Jets first role is cultural exchange, and do not want the Jet to engage in extracurricular activities with the students.
Also it is important to note that in Yawata the Jet is spread throughout 4 schools, and thus comes to each school on average only once a month.

Bulletin of the International Jomon Culture Conference TRENDS AND PERSPECTIVES IN RESEARCH ON JOMON CULTURE
Yawata worked in the region around his home and, while endeavoring to complete the first volume of Torii Ryuzo's Suwashi [A History of Suwa] (1924), he also intensively collected materials from Inatani and Saku, developing fresh interpretations everywhere he worked.
Yawata did not finish with a perfunctory description of artifacts but also analyzed the decoration of Jomon pottery and attempted to develop the concept of a cultural phase.
Yawata deserves appreciation for this work as well as for his efforts to go beyond the morphological and typological analysis of pottery and stone tools to discuss trade based on obsidian and other artifacts and to even try to say something about Jomon society.

Yawata has created a series of imagined moments, inspired by her mother’s girlhood and later life.

Yumi Yawata is valuable in this context because it demonstrates an attempt during the Muromachi period to reinterpret the faith in terms of those earlier conceptions.
The animistic dimension of the faith is revealed most clearly in the concluding passage which proclaims that 'even the sound of the wind in the pines' is a manifestation of the god's body.
In this sense Yumi Yawata presents an excellent illustration of the intention of Shinto worship in the Muromachi period.
