Apparently, muslims give special status to jews and christians as 'peopel of the book', and the yezidi are looked down upon for having oral supperstitions, rather than a holy book, so they might've put one together for that purpose, or raised the status of a prayer book.
Notice also that the sacred book is in arabic, a foreign language to the ostensibly kurdish yezidi, and that only their preists (and, I beleive, 'singers' of their prayers or some such) speak arabic, usually just enough to say the prayers.
