Yeah Yeah Yeahs   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-19)
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs have enjoyed NYC's garage punk renaissance; they were chosen to open tours with The White Stripes and The Strokes due to their sexy and arty, yet lighthearted punk style.
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs' sound is raw and energetic garage punk rock with a taste of new wave and the look and feel of the shows during the early '80s heyday of CBGBs.
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs also conspicuously steal the guitar riff from Jett and the Blackhearts' hit version of the Tommy James song "Crimson and Clover." Nick Zinner hits the stage with a spiky hair and plays dirty and lurching guitar like an apathetic and drunken Sid Vicious doing Skull Kontrol.

When the release of the NYC trio’s self-titled EP in late 2001, buzz emerged surrounding the Yeah Yeah Yeahs just as their NYC counterparts the Strokes and the Mooney Suzuki were gaining buzz in the new, stripped-down garage punk scene.
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs however, stood out among their NYC peers with their abstract approach towards garage rock by mixing it with new wave, lo-fi, punk, and art-rock.
With the growing anticipation for “Fever to Tell” looming, the band decided to release another EP in late 2002 just to have fans something other than their self-titled EP.

To cut a short story even shorter, Yeah Yeah Yeahs formed in Williamsburg,  Brooklyn, two-and-a-half years ago when Karen O (vocals) and Nick  Zinner (guitar) stumbled upon one another in a New York bar.
Had the EP or their increasingly raucous live shows (for  example their debut gig opening for the White Stripes)  been nothing special,  no one would have cared either way.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs played their debut London headline gig at Metro  on Oxford St before supporting Jon Spencer at Brixton Academy  (Karen O cavorting around the huge stage in pink prom dress and  frilly knickers).

Yeah Yeah Yeahs: Show Your Bones (2006): Reviews
The best thing about the second Yeah Yeah Yeahs album is the fact that it defies expectations, yet seems like the perfectly logical next step for such an adventurous band.
It may not be the album many critics and fans were expecting from Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but it's undeniably the right record for them at the right time, a shrewd display of awareness of both craft and, more importantly, of self too often lacking in modern rock.
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs made a fantastic album, but the real brain in this is the guitar player Nick Zinner, a guy who plays monstruous riffs and textures similar to My Bloody Valentine, with the same skills.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - s/t EP (Touch and Go)
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are a three piece (guitar, drums, vocals) from New York City, who have been hailed by the press as the next Strokes, or something.
It starts off with an angular guitar pattern, accentuated well by a minimal drum part as Karon O whispers "Bang bang bang, the bigger, the better." The tone of the guitar is somewhat similar to Arab on Radar's 'bass-y' guitar (the low end is HEAVY, and the high end sounds like an electric current).
But, the melody is directly taken from the chorus of the far superior "Crimson and Clover." Again, had the middle of the EP been good, I would probably think this was a charming reference to a great song.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs' drummer Brian Chase also plays in the Seconds with Zah Lehroff (of the Ex-Models) and bassist Jean Kwon.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs went pop on Show Your Bones (Interscope, 2006), to the point of evoking a cross between Blondie and the Primitives (Gold Lion, Way Out).

Like the Strokes' Modern Age EP, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' self-titled debut is a minimanifesto, announcing the arrival of another New York band to watch.
Along with the White Stripes, the YYYs are the artiest and most challenging of the garage rock revivalists, fearlessly mashing together three decades' worth of inspiration into five songs that showcase their just-this-side-of-sleazy sex appeal and sharp sense of humor.
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs cram more ideas and attitude into five songs than most bands express in an entire album; if this EP is anything to go by, their full-length debut will truly be a force to be reckoned with.

Having shared bills with 2001 darlings White Stripes and the Strokes, it's not shocking that the Yeah Yeah Yeahs also are wrapped in a sticky film of hype.
This EP (which doesn't even include their best live song--Tick)sounds like the soundtrak to an early '60s biker B-movie, which is not a bad thing really.
i actually prefer this ep to their full-length release: songs like "maps" and "modern romance" seem a little schmaltzy to me. as always, karen o's howling, moaning, and screaming as if she's in the midst of the most fantastic orgasm of her life is a delight to listen to.

Although the YYY's debut "Fever To Tell" album fell into the "close but no cigar" category, this EP is the band at their very best.
Almost sounding like a radio session, the energy crackles through this recording throughout, and the first three songs are among the band's best - "Bang", "Mystery Girl" and the scarily intense "Art Star".

The year was 2001, and in the folly of my not-quite-adulthood, I smugly thought of myself as the epitome of counter-culture as I listened to my new favorite bands, the Strokes and the White Stripes.
In the fifteen minutes that followed, my young suburbanite sensibilities were torn to shreds by the raw vocals of a brash, overtly sexual frontwoman.
That EP was, of course, the eponymous debut of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, a band that would soon become one of the most hyped bands on the planet in the lead up to its debut full-length,

village voice > music > Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Fever to Tell by James Hannaham
Since The Village Voice has become the official fanzine of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, it would be sacrilege to turn on Karen O. & Company in these pages on the release of Fever to Tell, the band's first real moment of reckoning.
Even if some of that is true, the Y3s, formed just two and a half years ago, have the advantage of being one of the youngest groups to burst from behind the Vines, Strokes, Hives, and White Stripes.
Fever doesn't sound as much like it was recorded inside a toolbox as the Yeah Yeah Yeahs EP, but producer David Andrew Sitek has left its edges far too jagged to conquer the Mall of America.
