Biography of Yehuda Katz, Missing in Action
Yehuda Katz was born on July 18, 1959 in Ramat Gan, Israel.
It would be at the abortive battle at Sultan Yaqub that Yehuda's religious conviction and leadership capabilities would come to the fore one last time, before he would go missing along with his colleagues Zachary Baumel and Tzvi Feldman.
Yehuda also continues to be remembered in the hearts and minds of the student body at Kerem Be'yavne -- since Yehuda's disappearance a daily prayer has been offered on his behalf by succeeding generations of students at the yeshiva.

Yehuda accepts personal responsibility for Binyamin, which of course leads to his subsequent initiative at the end of this week's parsha and the beginning of the next, and this assumption of responsibility is quite correctly seen as the mark which distinguished him and led to his selection for the leadership role.
Yehuda's guarantee is no longer enough; to ensure the success of the mission, Yaakov adds some details of his own, details he knows that his "hotheaded" sons might not think of.
Yehuda, in his conversation with his father, evinces true leadership, by insisting on an answer, a choice, by forcing himself and his father to face up and grapple with their destiny and not passively let it overcome them.
