		Yellow Matter Custard is a Beatles cover band consisting of Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater), Neal Morse (ex-Spock's Beard), Paul Gilbert (Racer X, ex-Mr.
		They take their name from a lyric in "I Am the Walrus": "Yellow matter custard, dripping from a dead dog's eye".
		More a project than a band, they performed only twice: on May 17, 2003 at Upper Montclair, New Jersey and May 18, 2003 at BB King's Blues Club, New York.

	I Am the Walrus
		Lennon called childhood friend, Pete Shotton[?], and asked him about a silly playground nursery rhyme that they used to sing when they were kids.
		Shotton reminded Lennon of the words; "Yellow matter custard, green slop pie, All mixed together with a dead dog's eye, Slap it on a butty, ten foot thick, Then wash it all down with a cup of cold sick".
		Lennon borrowed a couple of words from the rhyme, added the three old unfinished ideas and the result was the lyrics to "I Am The Walrus".

		This comes through on the CD and even more on the DVD - I haven't seen so many smiles on stage at any show in my life and it's infectious even in my living room in Pittsburgh two years later.
		The song list is Lennon heavy with a good representation of George's under appreciated songs and again, by going with YMC favorites the show is really stronger and more interesting than if it had been a show of "the number ones".
		This is definitely not for casual Beatles fans, who won't get it I fear.
