Constructed in 1917, this building is a traditional tile-roof house common in the central part of Yeongseo Province(west of the Taebaek Mountains).
Because the topography of the village where this house is located takes after a foot of "Sot" that is a large pot used for boiling rice or cooking soups, the name of the village is called "Sotbari"(bari means leg or foot).
This type of house is typical in Yeongseo Province.
