Yeshiva Torah Vodaas (or Mesivta Torah Vodaas) is a Haredi yeshiva located in Brooklyn, New York, founded by Binyamin Wilhelm, author of Nidchei Yisroel (a guide for new Jewish immigrants).
The yeshiva was headed in its earliest years by Rabbi Shraga Feivel Mendlowitz, who insisted that he be addressed as "Mr.

Walking through the YU beis midrash, especially during the academic year while the kollel is in session, you notice a lot of seforim written by the Roshei Yeshiva, especially Eretz HaTzvi and Be-Iqvei Ha-Tzon (of course, that could just be a desire to get an edge for the Kollel Bechinos).
His response was that he wasn’t altogether thrilled with the products of the boys’ yeshiva high school system where gemara is emphasized more or less to the exclusion of everything else.
When halakhot were still derived from Scripture, it was especially important that students had skills and knowledge of Tanach, whether their parents were qualified to provide that training on whether professional educators had to be employed.

taught at Yeshiva for some forty years, chiefly in what was then called the Teachers' Institute (the now-ironically named Isaac Breuer College) and at the Bernard Revel Graduate School for Jewish Studies.
Presumably it is a reference to one of the brothers of the famous Schorr family of Williamsburg, who were active in that organization, the most well-known of whom was Rav Gedalia Schorr z"l, later Rosh Yeshiva in Yeshiva Torah Vodaas.
I think it is fairly likely that it predated the Borough Park shiur, since the daf yomi was related to Agudath Israel, Zeirei's parent organization, though I couldn't say for certain.
