Kegs were tapped, campsites sprung up, Yeti owners new and old converged, and by the time dinner was rolling it was clear that the chemistry of the group would produce some great rides and fun times.
Yeti staffer Craig Grant (aka College), who delights in making fun of cross-country types, not only lugged his camera equipment on the whole ride, but even rode towards the front to capture more pictures.

Yeti is pretty basic stuff fresh from the garage, with a good three-quarters of the material on the first two sides in the same exact key!
Yeti's take on the drugged-out, hazy psychedelic albums of the heady late 60s-early 70s is definitely worth hearing, though won't be for those into prog-as-melody-and-virtuosity.
The band seems to pay more attention to structure and the orchestration of their sonic effects and although there is still a "garage" element to it, the results sound less amateur than on Phallus Dei, though no less inspired.

By his accounts the place is all about Jesus, so a secular band that just happens to play in a Jesus heavy idiom might not feel comfortable playing there.
Sixpence None the Richer is a band that serves as a good example of the opposite.
Either the band is Christian to try and cash in on something or worse still in the eyes of some, they are secular to try to draw people in.

There were some die-hard Yeti fans out there as they were dancing merrily from the word go, or maybe they were just out to have a really good time.
Too often nowadays bands mix their genres to the extreme and never find out who they truly are.
Yeti are still unsigned at the moment but only time will tell if a record label decides to snap them up.

The band's sound is harder, less subtly textured than it has been in recent years, largely due to Dylan's decision to move from acoustic guitar to keyboards.
He and his band used to have an aggressive, nuanced, three-pronged acoustic attack that sounded totally original, and while Dylan will never sound anything but original, his backing right now is boring.
It's bands like The Walkmen, who are just indie enough to be interesting and just commercial enough to be relevant, who continue to make rock music something worth listening to.

Yeti is one of the band's most famous albums, and certainly its magnum opus in terms of epicness and ambitiousness (not in terms of name, though - that honour falls to Phallus Dei anyway).
But the band was never used to making pop songs: their forte was (a) their dreary gothic mood and (b) their crazyass instrumentation and arranging techniques.
This is understandable, of course, since the band's specialty was always the raw sound rather than its strict moulding into shape, but occasionally it really gets on my nerves, especially when after the tenth listen I pick up the CD cover and cannot remember the melody of even one of the eleven tracks contained therein.

Based in Ft. Worth, Texas, Yeti was the product of a merger between two related bands: One was the original Yeti with Tommy Atkins on bass, Jon Teague on drums, and Eric Harris on guitar.

Due to the recent revival of interest in the old Krautrock bands, Amon Duul II reformed in the late 90s and released a couple of studio albums, the quality of which I cannot attest to.
Indeed, the band's debut is still one of the German progressive rock scene's more impressive moments, early enough on the scene to deliver a swift kick in the ass to the horde of hungry, fledging bands that would eventually follow in the band's footsteps.
Amon Duul II is the defining German space-rock band, and Yeti is generally regarded as their defining album.

Gregg Yeti, formerly guitarist for Syracuse, NY’s Flashing Astonishers, hasn’t played solo much at all, but sporting a cheap three-song EP and stretching his boundaries, he began with a short, tight set of acoustic singer/songwriter tunes in the vein of Paul Westerberg.
I’ve never seen a band play live where, when a song is completed, the audience has to remember to breathe before clapping.

Yeti is a "hominid" or some kind of man-like being, but certainly not a bear.
Yeti or Not - an online game remarkably similar to a certain classic featuring another ape-like creature at the top of a set of ramps with ready access to barrels.
Unless this is a robot inside a yeti suit, which is entirely impossible, there is no reason to think of this image as anything other than an ironic statement made by our jaded youth who appear to enjoy this sort of snarkiness on a regular basis.
