Yinxu was in fact selected by cultural conservatives as the first site for national archaeology in order to refute the "Doubting Antiquity" scholars and to sustain tradition.
The Yinxu excavations were first conducted under the joint auspices of the Freer Gallery of Art (FGA), and the newly founded Institute of History and Philology (IHP), Academia Sinica.
The Yinxu excavation was thus both a catalyst for the development of modern Chinese archaeology and an embodiment of the political conflicts inherent to the nation-state building enterprise of Republican China.

 Archaeologists rewrite history
We paid special attention as similar shells appeared in Yinxu, where the oracle bones or jiaguwen were found," said Zhang Juzhong, then leader of the excavation team from Henan Institute of Archaeology.
He carefully brushed off the dust, and on the lower middle part of the plastron was an eye-shaped sign, which greatly resembled the later jiaguwen pictograph for "eye" in the Yinxu oracle bones.
Another plastron was incised with two vertical strokes, fairly similar to the character for "20" in the jiaguwen inscriptions found at Yinxu, said the research paper.

It was the first time Shang oracle bones had been found outside the dynasty's 3,300-year-old capital, Yinxu Ruins in Anyang City in central China's Henan Province.
The shells had been dug out exclusively in Yinxu, and the latest finding could provide key clues on formation of the dynasty and indication that the ruins might have been an important cultural center, said Zhu Fenghan, deputy-curator of National Museum of China.
The ruins shares similar traits with the ancient capital of Yinxu, including pottery, bronze and jade, and the finding of similar Jiaguwen proved that they were using similar words.

The site at Yinxu was where 12 kings of eight generations maintained their rule for less than 280 years starting from the early 11th century BC, in the nation's earliest documented dynastic rule.
However, to place Yinxu on the World Cultural Heritage List, the local government and local people must work extremely hard to show their resolve to better protect the ruins and improve the museum for visitors.
Last year, visitors to Yinxu saw a vast area of yellow soil, since all the excavated tombs had been covered with soil for better protection.

Therefore it is conjectured that this vessel is also comes from Yinxu.
The jue was probably a gift or offering made to Gong Wang at the funeral; it may had been used for drinking or libations at the grave during the rite, a custom known as early as the prehistoric Dawenkou and Longshane culture (Fourth to third millennium BCE).

Another plastron was incised with two vertical strokes, fairly similar to the character for "twenty" in the Yinxu inscriptions.
These observations suggest that the fully-developed writing system at Shang period Yinxu was preceded by at least two millennia of sign-use on pottery from which it may partially have been drawn.
Although it is impossible at this point to trace any direct connection from the Jiahu signs to the Yinxu characters, we do propose that slow, culture-linked evolutionary processes, adopting the idea of sign use, took place in diverse settings around the Yellow River.

The beautiful courtesan, Liu Yinxu (Shih Szu), newly arrived at Lixiang Brothel, has a hidden motive that gradually becomes clear as she uses her wiles to work her charms on both heroes and get them to do her bidding.
Liu Yinxu is a far cry from her earlier roles and is one that would normally have gone to Ching Li or any number of Shaw Bros. actresses who specialized in more showy, glamorous roles.
She is nonetheless quite engaging as she flatters and manipulates the men with all the arts of the courtesan, but she also has a couple of powerful emotional scenes, particularly one with Ti Lung, that she pulls off at least as well as the other actresses at the studio would have.
