		Ylistaro is in the lushest part of the Kyrönjoki river valley; "taro" meaning a cultivated, inhabited area.
		There are two churches in the municipality, the pride and landmark of Ylistaro, the so-called Grand church with 2 500 seats.
		Logistically speaking, Ylistaro is well situated at the crossroads of two highways, just half an hour's drive from the nearest town, Seinäjoki.

	The dependent parish of Koski
		In the year 1647 the Chapter accorded the parish of Marttila permission to build the chapel of Ylistaro (in other words Koski).
		Already in the 1650’s the name Ylistaro was rejected and Koski became the only name according to the manor of Koski.
		Renovation of the church became timely again in 1817 and that is when the new cruciform church was built a bit further from the bell tower.

		They visited small villages in Ilmajoki, Kannus and Ylistaro - places where they could find old farmyards with clusters of wooden buildings like two-storey farmhouses, barns, sheds, saunas, cowhouses and stables.
