| | IUPUI English Department (317) 274-2258 |
 | | Through its courses and other activities in linguistics, writing, creative writing, film, and literature, the Department of English works to create and sustain evolving communities of learners interested in the contributions of language to what has been called the examined life: a thoughtful, morally aware, and civically and personally responsible existence. |
 | | In addition to service courses and courses for our under-graduate and graduate majors, the department supports the diverse communities created by the American Sign Language/English interpreting program, the English as a second language program, the Indiana Center for Intercultural Communication, the Journal of Teaching Writing, and the University Writing Center. |
 | | These can be along the dimensions of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political views, languages, or ideologies. |
