Yokote is a small city of roughly 30,000 in mid-southern Akita, in the northern part of the main island of Japan.
A rural Japanese festival in Yokote city where groups of men wearing pajamas in severe winter weather build and decorate long rods that they carry two kilometers uphill to shove into the town's temple.
When the grates are lifted up, you can see here that the gutters in Yokote exist below the street, a current of swift running water that carries off all the snow that's routinely shoveled into it by the locals.

It was about a fireworks exhibition in Yokote-city, Akita, which is a place famous for Kamakura festival in winter.
This fireworks exhibition in Yokote is quite unique because it is not an exhibition for normal shooting-up fireworks...it is for senkou hanabi (Japanese sparkler and a great photo is from 2xUP Ph).
Akita is a place where I spent part of my childhood and the name of this prefecture always elicit my good memories and nostalgic feelings.

 Miss Akita - Japanese Friendship Doll
After a master doll maker in Tokyo made Miss Akita, the doll went to Akita Prefecture in October 1927 for a tour of the prefecture so the children could say farewell before she was sent to America.
The name "Miss Akita" was engraved on the name plate in front of the wooden doll stand, but the doll on the stand was clearly not the same as the one in a photo taken in October 1927 when Miss Akita left Akita Prefecture for America.
We plan to display Miss Akita and Miss Yokote, symbols of friendship, at an exhibition titled "Bridge of Peace." The children really appreciate this gift, and they want to be friends with the children of Yokote City through an exchange of letters and drawings.
