News agency - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A news agency is an organization journalists established to supply news reports to organizations in the news trade: newspapers, magazines, and radio and television broadcasters.
News agencies are distinct from news syndicates that distribute comic strips and other editorial material, such as columns and features, and also from PR services that distribute press releases.
News agencies generally prepare articles that can be used by other news organizations with little or no modification, and then sell them to other news organizations.

Is Bird Flu In N Korea?

Quoting an unnamed source, Yonhap news agency said on Tuesday [15 Mar 2005] the chickens died at a poultry farm in Pyongyang, prompting an emergency response from North Korean authorities.
Yonhap said it was not immediately clear if the outbreak was restricted to the farm, believed to be the largest in the country and located in the western part of Pyongyang.

Though North Korea's media is tightly controlled, experts here said the comment by a news presenter for domestic consumption should be treated with caution and was unlikely to represent official policy.

 When Truth No Longer Matters
The North's official Korean Central News Agency had previously reported that the destructive power of the blast was that of 100 tons of dynamite, and explained that the accident was caused by "the electrical contact caused by carelessness during the shunting of wagons loaded with ammonium nitrate fertilizer and tank wagons".
Yonhap reported that a mushroom cloud up to 2.5 miles in diameter was spotted after the blast in remote Yanggang province in the far northeast.
Japan's Kyodo News, citing numerous diplomatic sources in Vienna, reported Saturday that the force of April 22's train explosion at the north's Ryonchon Station was about that of an earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale, which would have required about 800 tons of TNT -- about eight times that officially announced by North Korea.
