  Cannon Films
Globus said this in 1987 when the Cannon Group took a $25 million cash payment from Warner Bros. in exchange for some of its video assets, in a move designed to prop up the company: "Our only crime is that we love cinema.
Globus announced Lambada for a release on May 4, 1990; he took a Stand and Deliver rip-off script he had sitting around and commissioned the screenwriter to add a lambada element to it.
Globus filed a complaint with the MPAA several weeks before the films came out over the use of the word lambada in Golan’s advertising copy; the MPAA ruled that Golan did have the right to use the word, just not in the film’s title.

 Golan and Globus | www.somethingjewish.co.uk
If you were a cinemagoer in the 70s and 80s, chances are you would have come across the Israeli filmmaking duo Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus, founders of Cannon Films, at some point.
Menahem Golan was born Menahem Globus in 1929 in Tiberias, Israel, to Polish parents, and spent some time in the Israeli air force (changing his name to Golan in 1948 for ‘patriotic’ reasons) before the arts world came calling.
Initially he worked as a theatre director before going into business with Yoram Globus (his younger cousin, born in Tiberias in 1941); their first film, El Dorado, was produced in 1963.

Globus Group withdraws - Business news
One of the participants in last year's procedure was the Israeli company Globus Group, owned and operated by the world famous producer Yoram Globus.
He added that their company certainly qualified in all of these areas and that their interests are to work together with the producers, distributors, exhibitors and other artists, such as actors, directors and technicians to help build and strengthen the industry.
According to Greenblatt, Globus Group chose not to submit an offer this time as the way the memorandum was structured did not seem practical and made no business sense for a strategic investor who is interested in maintaining, operating and upgrading the cinema chain.

It's not surprising that Globus made a movie about the Delta Force, because it's long been a favorite topic of B movie makers who don't live in the United States.
Not just because that it was produced by Yoram Globus, but by the fact that despite being snapped up by a major video label for its North American release, it took three years from that above 1999 date of completion to actually get its video release.
It's also fortunate for the peacekeepers that hostile Arab forces (remember, this is a Yoram Globus movie) are exceptionally poor shots.

Golan became the head of 21st Century Film Corporation while Globus went on to preside briefly over MGM/UA, which now owns some ancillary rights to most of Cannon's film library, while television rights are owned by CBS Paramount Domestic Television (the successor-in-interest to the Paramount/Viacom television unit).
Golan and Cannon Films have been heavily criticized for their pervasive anti-Arab stereotypes, often seemingly going out of their way to demonize Arabs.

 FIREWALKER - DVD
Of the many right-wing cinematic fantasies of the 1980s, by far the most flagrant and shameless were those of Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus.
The Cannon Pictures magnates specialized in white folk dropped in the middle of jungles both urban and outback: they gave us freedom fighters in Vietnam (Missing in Action), vigilante crime-fighters (the later entries in the Death Wish saga), and Indiana Jones cross-referenced with his colonial ancestors (King Solomon's Mines, et al).
It's a fitting metaphor for Golan and Globus, who took a few thoroughly despicable attitudes and through sheer force of incompetence made them appear as threatening as Gilbert and Sullivan.

I was going through some old videotapes and re-discovered the hilarity of American Kickboxer 1, an anemic 1991 release from Global Pictures, the company Yoram Globus formed after his split with Menahem Golan.
Interestingly, Globus would try the same recipe--take a semi-successful Cannon movie, slap "American" before the title and make a terrible knockoff of said film--to limited effect in 1993 with American Cyborg.

In the annals of Motion Picture history, there have been few parterships that have produced as much pure cheese as that of Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus.
Please take a moment and bask in their glory, for without them, we may never have had Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo, Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, or Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2.
Now, I'm not saying this list is by anymeans complete (I'm relying on imdb afterall) but a lot of these titles were known under alternate titles as well.
