 Vroman, Charles E. - Biography
Vroman was born on a pioneer farmstead in Fitchburg township, Dane county, Wisconsin, about seven miles distant from Madison, the beautiful capital city of the state, and the date of his nativity was October 5, 1846.
He forthwith returned to Wisconsin and was admitted to its bar, and his first practical work in his profession was performed in connection with the office of the late Hon.
He was graduated in the law department of the University of Wisconsin as a member of the class of 1901, and had gained secure vantage ground in his chosen profession when his death occurred, this being the severest of blows to his devoted parents.

The county itself was created in 1836, the year that the first permanent settlers, Colwert and Edward Pier, arrived.
Through Doty's lobbying efforts, the prospective city was made a candidate for the new Wisconsin territorial capital, although there were fewer than 140 white settlers in the entire county as late as the federal census of 1840.
In far western Fond du Lac County, the population of Metomen, first settled in 1844, grew from 460 in 1847 to 720 by 1850 and 1617 by 1860.

Then renting a farm in Dane County, they resided on it for six years, and at the end of the time moves to Monroe County, where Hilarious Rondorf bought eighty acres of wild land, on which he built a log house and barn, thus beginning the work of improvement.
The land was wild and he had to build a house, in which he and his wife took up their abode.

 The Salvation Army of Dane County
Parker later served as a photographer during World War I, was instrumental in initiating the USO (United Service Organizations) during World War II and served as The Salvation Army's national leader from 1934 to 1943.
Among the early services were hospitals for unwed mothers, which began at the Booth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1888, expanded across the county, and lasted for almost a century.
The Salvation Army kept the records of the Booth Hospitals and created a ministry of connecting children born in the hospitals with their birth mothers if both consented.

 Fitzmaurice, Thomas (History - 1828)
Fittzmaurce was born December 22, 1828, and at the age twenty-two years he came to America, landing at New York, in June 1850, and remained in the State of New York till the autumn of 1854, when he came to Dane County, Wisconsin, and purchased forty acres of land and settled upon it.
The first post office to which his mail was brought was eighteen miles away, and the few neighbors took turns in going for the mail, with the understanding that it was to be left at some certain place convenient for all.
