When Yorkville Records president Bill Gilliland discovered them in Halifax, he was so impressed with their original songs he signed them to the label and brought them to Toronto.
He re-christened them The Stitch In Tyme and the members began living in and amongst the flourishing Yorkville Village scene and within a year the band was one of the most popular acts in Toronto.
In order to fulfill at least part of their recording agreement with Yorkville, who was footing the bill for a full-length album in progress, the band hastily slapped together a cover version of The Beatles' "Got To Get You Into My Life".

NIU anthropology Professor Tom Berres points to the remnants of a cistern discovered on farmland that once was the homestead of a prominent judge and early settler of Kendall County.
Title records indicate he owned numerous properties, which were likely rented to tenant farmers.
Scofield’s June 17, 1875, obituary in the Kendall County Record also indicates he was a member of the Republican party from its start, and two of his sons “were given to the Union cause,” one at the Battle of Stones River in Tennessee.

 The Ugly Ducklings - Somewhere Outside
Formed in famed Toronto’s Yorkville area in 1965, the band flourished in the many coffee houses around the Yorkville district as a Rolling Stones cover band before becoming the Ugly Ducklings and attracting the attention of the local Yorkville Records label.
The band recorded a single, Nothin’, that became a Canadian hit and opened for the Rolling Stones in 1966 when the band played Toronto’s Maple Leaf Gardens.
The band was quickly becoming local heroes and in 1967 the album, Somewhere Outside was released on the small independent Yorkville label.

The Yorkville Associate Reformed Church was organized in a home in the fall of 1853 by First Presbytery of the Associate Reformed Synod of the South.
In his “Sketch of the Yorkville ARP Church,” W. Grist wrote, “Thirty years or more ahead of his time, Dr. Millen began earnest work against whisky and it was not a great while before he made himself exceedingly unpopular because of his alleged intolerance.
The church records from 1853–1890 were burned when fire destroyed the Yorkville Enquirer building.

Yorkville was chosen to be the original county seat, but in 1845 a petition was presented to the General Assembly asking for relocation of the county seat to Oswego, which was larger than any of the other townships in the county.
Yorkville won this election by almost 2 to 1.
He and his associates began loading the records of Kendall County into the wagons, and by noon all records were in their respective vaults at the newcourthouse in Yorkville.

Then when metal detecting there were tons of signals indicating nails which may possibly be more graves that were never removed and in the piles of dirt they dug up there was what appeared to be shreded and splintered old wood that I suspect was coffins.

The Ugly Ducklings formed in Yorkville Village in 1965 and became a driving force in getting the area noticed based on their Rolling Stones-inspired 'bad boy' reputation.
In 1966 they released their first single, "Nothin'", on the Yorkville label and followed that with several more singles concluding with the chart topping "Gaslight" in 1967.
Written by Robert Hailey, a Yorkville Records staff member, the song went #1 in Toronto and parts of eastern Canada.

Arc Records began in Toronto in 1958 as a record distributor founded by Philip G. Anderson and William R. Gilliland.
In 1959 they started releasing recordings, and in 1961 purchased Precision Pressing Co. In 1969 the company came under the control of Ahed Music Corp and ceased operations in 1986.
Yorkville records was considered among the finest in the garage rock genre in the 60's and the label's singles are highly collectible today.
