Yesterday something happened that made me stop and think and realise just what a different person I am to what I was a couple of years ago or maybe more.
It made me respect him a little more for opening this side of himself up to me and I agreed to meet up with him to cheer him up.
It made me realise that I had grown beyond the point where I let people take advantage of me, that I had progressed enough to know when I am making a mistake and stopping it in time.

British Empire - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Henry's financial reforms made the English Exchequer solvent, which helped to underwrite the development of the Merchant Marine.
Other notable events in the Company's history were that it held Napoleon captive on Saint Helena, and made the fortune of Elihu Yale.
Economic crisis in 1947 made many realise that the Labour government of Clement Attlee should abandon Britain's attempt to retain all of its overseas territories.

 High West
For a long time now I've worried about the implications of gathering DNA data from large sections of the population, particularly when those individuals may have committed no crime (there has been a lot of coverage about children's DNA being retained even when their innocence was proven).
This week's Dispatches on Channel 4 made me realise what the problem really is (although in my opinion the programme portrayed civil liberties advocates as a bunch of maniacs with tin-foil hats).
This scenario worries me a lot, and I now understand why I'm concerned about the collection of large numbers of DNA samples, particularly when there appears to be no clarity about how it might be used in the future.

 GozoCircle
Please bear with me if I use the first person frequently but some parts of the untold story of the Stone Circle are garnered from my diary and personal experience.
It was this coincidence that made me realise much later that the wall which offered the most obscure place for hiding my gun was the only standing megalithic remains of the Gozo Stone Circle.
It is therefore evident that the destruction of the Gozo Stone Circle was already in progress, because a year later the German prince, Hermann Puckler-Muskau, was able to be directed to the Stone Circle and there he witnessed in disgust the destruction of the last surviving megaliths.

And, as he pulls to one side, I quickly realise that Buchanan Street is nothing short of an assault course.
Meanwhile, dozens of people move towards me. But with my eyes closed off, I can only hear voices fade and footsteps grow fainter as the masses of people part like the Red Sea in front of me. Most of the time.
I may be walking at only a couple of miles an hour but, with my eyes closed off, the fear is far, far greater than hurtling down a motorway in a fast car.

 You made me realise
It´s jangly pop already showed hints of the greatness to come and 1988 turned out to be their year.
They released "You Made Me Realise" and later on the album "Isn´t Anything", both turned out to be hugely influential (not only on all of the Shoegazing bunch, but also lots of other bands).
When they released "Loveless" in 1991, it made the albums by all the other bands unnecesserary, cos it compromised everything Shoegazing was meant to be and took it a lot further.

My parents never brought me up I realised, sure they paid the bills and yelled at me so that I wouldn't listen to that infernal pop music while studying and tried their best to be parents in the mode of what they thought best, but they didn't actually parent.
I'd long realised it of course, but time apart made me realise that there were many things I didn't agree with.
Many reactions that may have made sense, but I realised were not only "not me" but were what I was going to choose not to be.

The I’mPerfect Mom » Dream a little dream
And lucid dreaming (where in the dream, you realise you’re dreaming and you try to control it) was a ’skill’ I’ve developed during my teenage years, where I’ve been fascinated with dreams where I could fly.
When I was pregnant, I dreamt that Lokes had left me and my mom had died (it’s pretty common to have such dreams when you’re expecting) more than once, and oftentimes, woke up crying where Lokes had to wake me up, and I would STILL be crying.
It was weird, but these dreams made me realise how precious my loved ones were to me, and for a while, I would treat them as though they’d been returned to me miraculously.

Reading Iraqi blogs lately has made me realise that I am as well, if not better informed about what is happening in Iraq than any overpaid newspaper commentator.
The Kurds, encouraged by the Americans were digging in their heels to prevent the Shia getting control of the key defense and interior ministries and the Americans were enticing smaller parties in the UIA to switch sides.
This would have made the UIA an actual minority in the parliament and allowed Iyad Allawi to be shoe-horned into the role of Prime Minister.

Can anyone explain what the big deal with infinities is? - GameDev.Net Discussion Forums
Math is just exploring a bunch of rules we made up to be internally consistent.
It's made use of in set theory and an entire arithmetic exists for it, but this definition sees the concept as an extension of the natural numbers, not the reals.
In standard analysis, limits and convergence have nothing to do with infinity, and the use of the word is a left over from the early calculus.

As Polish broadcaster TVP also invited songwriters and composers from abroad to submit songs, it didn’t take long before the decision to enter it was made as, at the end, Poland never won the Eurovision Song Contest and could organise it very well (they have the Opole Song Contest!).
Although I personally wouldn’t object to a rule saying that performers, songwriters and composers should be citizens of the country they represent, TVP decided to use the absence of this rule in their favour.
