This isn’t at all the Bugs Bunny we know and love, and arguably not even him in embryonic form.
This is the confident, composed Bugs we know, not the silly rabbit of previous cartoons.
To me, the most surprising part of it all is the realization that the Warner Brothers cartoon did not tell the traditional Aesop version, but that it told a completely different version, and one with impressive literary roots.
