"You forgot Poland" is a catch phrase based on a statement by United States President George W. Bush concerning Poland's involvement in the Iraq War during the first presidential election debate on September 30, 2004.
Whether Poland was part of the invading forces became subject to a debate about the actual timelines, but at the time Bush made the comment in 2004, Poland had made a contribution of troops to Iraq.
By August, 2003, Poland had become one of the major partners of the multinational force in Iraq, with 2,500 soldiers in southern Iraq.

I grew up in Poland too, and agree with you that, when it comes to human rights, the population knows better than most what it means to have them trampled.
Poland had (and still does) vested interest in being a part of the "coalition of the willing".
If the US needs "secret" detention centers in Poland or Cincinati for that matter, then I would suggest that simply means we need the detention centers.

What’s humourous about this is how Poland decided today to pull all their troops out of Iraq in 2005.
It’s even easier, when you’ve lived in iraq and your brother had his arms broken, because he forgot to put a picture of saddam for display in his shop window.
Ridiculling any country’s contribution to the iraqi war, whether its 2700 polacks, 200 bulgarians or whatever number of estonians etc, is in my opinion just an example of bad taste.

Bush, obviously peeved, snapped back, "He forgot Poland." My initial reaction was that this line was going to make pretty good joke fodder on late night TV (insert your own one-liner here), but Julian Sanchez at Hit & Run actually has the best response.
And you seem to forget that Bush's statement in Poland referred to those trailers which he described as mobile weapons labs, when all expert opinion pointed to their doing nothing more than filling weather balloons.
Actually Poland´s 2700 soldiers commitment to the war in Iraq is far beyond Australia´s barely 2000 soldiers.

My nephew returned from a two-year excursion in Poland in June and though Polish troops were in Iraq, he got the distinct impression the majority Polish public he came in contact with did not fully support the action and certainly did not support the invasion itself.
But then Poland is still about the only country in Europe who likes Bush....but that said, the growing dislike of Polish troops in Iraq is obvious.
Now the current President and PM are finding the US didnt deliever on all those contracts for weapons, etc, and now they figure, what they hell, we have only a small time left in power.....lets do something good (they are all ex-communists and deep down have never really trusted the new move toward neo-lib reform).
