Young Talent Time - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In its final years Young Talent Time struggled for ratings, and the final nail in the coffin was the decision by the rival Nine Network to run the enormously popular variety show Hey Hey It's Saturday in the same Saturday night timeslot.
Young Talent Time could not even hope to compete with it, and the show was abruptly cancelled in January, 1989.
Young Talent Time was filmed mainly at the studios of ATV-10 in Nunawading, Melbourne although the occasional show was filmed at TEN-10 in Sydney.

 Young Talent Time
Young Talent Time was a long-running Australian television variety programme, with a core group of young performers - vaguely in the vein of The Mickey Mouse Club[?], and a weekly junior talent quest[?].
Because it ran for such a long time and featured young performers, Young Talent Time made an indelible mark on the psyche of several generations of Australian children, leading them to believe that if they tried hard enough, they too could be a 'star' like the kids they saw on television.
At the time, little was thought of it, but in retrospect it clearly marks the show in its now long-past era, safely before the hysteria about pedophilia of the 1990s.

For a generation, 6:30 Saturday night meant Young Talent Time and, at the risk of showing my age, it also meant Channel 0 rather than Channel 10, EONFM (92.3) not 3MMM (105.1), TV was still broadcast in B&W, records (LP's) were the biggest selling median and the AFL was still called the VFL.
The bulk of this DVD is the documentary "Young Talent Time Tells All" which was painstakingly put together by former YTT member John Bowles and aired on Channel 10 earlier this year (the DVD features an additional 20 minutes of material that wasn't aired on TV).
Some may feel that the arrival of YTT on DVD signifies that the bottom of the barrel has been reached and that the distributors are running low on ideas and material.
