  Rational Youth Biography
The decision to release this album under the name Rational Youth was Capitol's, although Tracy concurred at the time, because he had never wanted to become a "solo artist".
Releasing it as a Rational Youth album had the effect, ironically enough, of creating an image of RY as simply a flag of convenience for Tracy as a solo artist - which is precisely what he had wanted to avoid.
The first new Rational Youth album in 14 years, "To The Goddess Electricity", was released at the end of 1999 to critical acclaim.

Youth is the second studio album by Hasidic Jewish reggae singer Matisyahu.
The first single from the album is "King Without a Crown", which was also a single on Matisyahu's previous album, Live at Stubb's.
The topic of the album is mostly the support and promotion of youth voice, more explicitly in the eponymous second track.

Popular use of the word youth refers to a person who is neither an adult nor a child, but somewhere in between, scientifically referred to as an adolescent and, in most English speaking countries, commonly referred to as a teen or teenager.
Commonly, a youth is defined as being somewhere between age 12 and age 26, with different countries and administrative regions choosing more narrow definitions within that frame.
In South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire in the United Kingdom, the word youth is a popularized phrase that is used as a greeting.

Sonic Youth: Daydream Nation ---Ink Blot Magazine
In 1988 Sonic Youth released Daydream Nation, a double-album that spreads itself across a musical landscape as vast and pacific as jazz, and as energetic as punk rock.
Before this album, the band hadn't aesthetically deconstructed punk rock successfully, but they do so here without pretension or a posture of self-importance.
For Sonic Youth, there is no such thing as an out-of-tune instrument, just a new pitch or tone to experiment with.

Sonic Youth: Washing Machine ---Ink Blot Magazine
Subsequent albums and tours have served to bolster the band's popularity, even when not establishing any new plateaus of creativity.
Indeed, the high points are all in the playing; the title track's first section, a mystical feminist trailer trash fantasy narrated by Gordon, is quite entertaining, but once the band start braiding patterns of chiming harmonics and feedback tendrils they simply levitate.
Even better is the album's epic closer "The Diamond Sea," which starts with Moore's lazily sung contemplation of passing time.

Though many fans feared the band had gone astray on the minimalist SYR albums of the late 1990s and the attempts at “art-rock” on their last proper release, nyc ghosts and flowers, the recent release of Murray Street (Geffen) seems to reassure everyone: Rock and Roll didn’t die, it was just on an avant-vacation.
If an album has a particularly longer, sort of drone-type quality to it, then the next time we’re in the studio we’ll be like, ‘oh, we don’t want to do that again.

Sonic Youth: Rather Ripped (2006): Reviews
Rather Ripped is unmistakably a Sonic Youth album, right down to the snatches of amp-on-fire distortion, the tuneless speak-singing of Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon, and an emphasis on guitar texture that includes amplifying each strummed string.
It's a solidly good album, and if taken as part of a trio of albums with Sonic Nurse and Murray Street, it shows that Sonic Youth is still in a comfortable yet creative groove, not a rut.
For a first timer, this album is amazing, so to knock it for not matching their previous super trio is ridiculous.

This was their last album recorded for an "independent" label (though "The Whitey Album" was released afterwards, it was ready to go prior to Daydream's conception), and was arguably the record that drew the strongest major label attention.
A preview of the album was released in September, a 7" single featuring a live version of "Silver Rocket" from one of the June shows, along with a noisy clip of a Beatles tape played thru a squealing amplifier & an instrumental re-titled version of "Eliminator Jr".
The album was reissued on CD by Blast First in 1992, with a subsequent DGC reissue in late '93, featuring liner notes by Jutta Koether.

Sonic Nurse - Sonic Youth - Music Reviews
Anyone who has stuck with Sonic Youth this long knows more or less what to expect from them, but the group still has the potential to surprise; one of Sonic Nurse's biggest surprises is the return of Kim Gordon.
All told, this album is probably the band's best balance of pop melodies and avant-leaning structures since Washing Machine; even if it doesn't rank among their most ambitious work, Sonic Nurse sounds like the kind of album Sonic Youth should be making at this point in their career.
Repeated examinations of Nurse, especially in comparison with the two albums that immediately precede it, reveal that SY is graying regally.

Sonic Youth has at least managed to keep the "sonic" part of their name consistently surprising and relevant, which makes their latest release, "Rather Ripped," something of a shocker.
Any record by Sonic Youth, even a pop record, is going to be chock full of ambient flourishes, strange tunings, unusual song construction and general weirdness, and "Rather Ripped" will leave longtime fans at least partially satisfied with their quota of this sort of thing.
Perhaps this record is Sonic Youth, finding their mastery of technique now established, returning to using the tools for the sake of pure expression rather than using them for partially experimental purposes.
