		Côr Meibion Ystradgynlais - the Ystradgynlais male voice choir - has been at the heart of social and musical life in this Upper Swansea valley community.
		Ystradgynlais has undergone profound social, industrial and economical change over the fifty years since the choir was founded in 1947.
		I am sure that the next fifty years will see even greater change but there can be no doubt that Côr Meibion Ystradgynlais will continue to provide that continuity and richness which are the true heart of any community.

		Ystradgynlais and District is a group of communities with some 8200 inhabitants situated in the picturesque Upper Tawe Valley in South Wales.

	Herman Foundation
		Eventually, Herman was forced to leave the area for health reasons, but he never forgot the village and the people who had welcomed him so warmly into their community and inspired a wealth of work now highly valued by art lovers, collectors and critics.
		Josef Herman died in 2000 and his friends and admirers in Ystradgynlais have set up the Foundation in his name to promote interest in his life and work and to encourage arts education initiatives within the area.
		The Foundation will be launched at the Welfare Hall in Ystradgynlais on Saturday 1st of May at 7pm.

		Ystradgynlais is a picturesque village in the Swansea Valley.
		In 1947 a group of workers at the Ynyscedwyn Colliery decided that Ystradgynlais should be represented in the Annual Miners' Eisteddfod that was to be held in Porthcawl.

		Located in a quiet village at the edge of the Brecon Beacons 16 miles from Swansea, Merlins Backpackers is surprisingly well serviced by public transport.
		Not a lot of backpackers independently make it to Ystradgynlais, but the hostel is well used by adventure sports tour groups.
		From Ystradgynlais you can brave the bus system and try to make it to Gower or Brecon for the day (attempting a journey in Wales that requires more than one bus can be a futile mission).
