		Yuryevets posad of XVI-XVII centuries was near the mountain, on the bank of the Volga.
		The fate of Yuryevets was common with cities and villages of long-suffering Ponizovskaya land all all Russia.
		Yuryevets warriors were on Kulikovo field in 1380 in regiments of their prince Vladimir Gorodetsky- Serpukhovskoy, Dmitry Donskoy's cousin and associate.

		The historical and art museum of Yuryevets was opened on December 28, 1999 in a building constructed in 1903 by a merchant - mayor A.L.Flyagin.
		This hall comprises material about religious history of the town Icons from Yuryevets temples, articles of church plate, old printed books and photo of churches are collected here.
		But Yuryevets inhabitants remember pioneer and komsomol organizations, demonstratings and meetings in honour of 1 May. They are the history of our country.

		In Levitan's last works there was appeared greatness and dramatic nature of image of eternal life of the nature, an original result of Levitan’s art searches became the unfinished picture "Lake.
		In the summer of 1890 Levitan went to Yuryevets (Юрьевец) and among numerous landscapes and etudes he wrote "The View of Krivooserski monastery".
		So the plan of one of his best pictures "The silent monastery" was born, where the image of a silent monastery and planked bridges through the river, connected it with world around, expressed deep reflections of the artist about life.

		Ivan Alexandrovich Mindovsky’s daughter Iraida married her father’s cousin Pyotr Galaktionovich Mindovsky, founder of “The Joint Stock Partnership Volga Manufactory of Paper and Flax Goods Run by P.Mindovsky and I.Bakakin”, and thus, not only was she firmly tied to the family business but she also did not need to change her surname on marriage.
