 Porkers pig out on excess rice
Pork from pigs fed with rice is scheduled to go on market next month, the result of a project aimed at using rice, which has seen a downturn in demand, as livestock feed.
Rice for livestock feed is grown by 37 local farmers and then sold to Hirata Farm Co., a pig farm in Sakata, Yamagata Prefecture.
The farm uses the rice to lower the ratio of corn in its hybrid feed.

Everyone in the whole town was there, so I spent the whole evening saying "good evening," or "konbanwa" until my voice was hoarse.
On Sunday I performed at the Yuzakoi Festival, which was held in a town called Yuza in northern Yamagata Prefecture.
Because of the rain, the whole festival was held inside a gym, but the changing rooms were in another building, so all us performers got wet anyway.

Misaki Park is actually shared by two different towns, Kisakata and Yuza, which are on either side of the border between Akita and Yamagata Prefectures.
The border between them runs through the park.
