DM's Explanation of Cricket - History of Cricket - 2004
According to the ZCU, Streak had presented them with a series of ultimatums at their recent quarterly meeting, including demands to review the team selection panel, making it at most four people, all of whom were to be neither ZCU directors or commentators, and to have played first-class cricket.
The ZCU press release also stated that the rebel players were expected to report for training the next morning, despite not being named in the team, or else "action will be taken against them in terms of their contract".
The ZCU said that because they had not resumed training by the 7 May deadline, they were in violation of their contracts.

To the ZCU, the colour of a man's skin is not as important as what goes on in his head.
So, it seems the ZCU believes that the many talented players who have left the country in disgust or dismay in the last few years are not an issue...
The ZCU might, as Chingoka also claimed, be doing a fantastic job in promoting cricket among the population as a whole.

The Hindu : Sport / Cricket : ZCU forced to select second string team again
In refusing to show up for practice today as part of a new deal proposed by the Zimbabwe Cricket Union (ZCU), the dissident players underlined their rejection of a plan which would mean mediation by an independent body and of new procedures to resolve union and player differences.
Details of this plan are being withheld by the ZCU, but they are known to entail the involvement of an independent arbitrator and a one-on-one method of resolving future issues between the union and professional players.
As the stalemate continued into a fourth week since their insistence on reinstatement of Streak as captain -- which ZCU chairman Peter Chingoka has said is ``no longer for discussion'' -- there seems to be no further sign of a breakthrough.
