  Resignation from ZPG
As a twenty-year ZPG activist, this was a difficult and painful decision.
I've had a vision of ZPG as the organization that unites and inspires all people who are concerned with halting U.S. and global population growth.
And, if one day ZPG decides to erect the "big tent", I'll be glad to carry the poles and would be honored to bring the champagne.

Based in Washington D.C., ZPG was established as a national, non-profit organization the purpose of which was twofold: urging voluntary efforts to stabilize the U.S. population, and lobbying to protect the global environment and its resources, as they are directly linked to population size.
Groups like ZPG contend that the PRI is nothing more than a front group for the well-funded anti-abortion movement, and counter that with the current population now approaching six billion by the year 2000, that number could double—to an astonishing 12 billion people—in the next 50 years.
ZPG, and other organizations like the Sierra Club and the National Audubon Society, educate their listeners about the crucial need for worldwide, voluntary family planning efforts to stabilize population growth.

The term "zero population growth" refers to a state where the population is no longer growing.
In the interim, there are two major reasons the U.S. population is still growing: (1) a large percentage of our population is in the younger, child-bearing ages and (2) an extremely large influx of immigrants.
