The archaeological international conference of the Burnt City will be held in Zabol University in Sistan-va-Baluchistan province by the attendance of Iranologists and other interdisciplinary sciences experts from Iran and European countries.
University professors and archeologists from France and Britain will also give lectures on the Burnt City during the conference.
Burnt City is one of the key historical sites of Iran, located in the southeastern province of Sistan va Baluchestan, which has so far hosted eight archaeological seasons after the Islamic Revolution of 1979, revealing the area to have had functioned as an important trade center some 5000 years ago.

On 25 January 2001, I gave a lecture in the city of Zabol in the southeastern Sistan province of Iran on the Scientific heritage of Abu Sa'id Ahmad ibn Mohammad ibn 'Abd al-Jalil al-Sijzi.
Abu Rayhan al-Biruni, the famous Iranian mathematician, astronomer and Indilog of the 10th century AD has admired al-Sijzi for the invention of a boat-shaped astrolabe which is based on the notion of the rotation of the earth in a stationary universe.
The lecture was given in Zabol University and was warmly received by the audience consisting of professors, students, and teachers, mostly inhabitants of Sistan.

Universities of Tehran, Amir Kabir (Tehran), Zanjan, Isfahan, Jahrom, Khoy, Shahr-e Kord and Zabol are among the universities across the country that have witnessed student protests and, on some occasions, clashes between students and security forces in recent days.
Last week, eight students in Tehran University, including Karim Assayesh, an activist in Tehran University’s Law School, were summoned to the Disciplinary Committee to face expulsion.

TEHRAN, March 12 (Mehr News Agency) -- An archaeologist of Zabol University in the southeastern Iranian province of Sistan-Baluchistan said the inhabitants of the Burnt City in ancient times had made ornaments to earn their living.
57km away from Zabol, the Burnt City covers an area of 150 hectares and used to be one of the largest cities at the start of city life in the Middle East.
It was built in 3200 B.C. and ruined in 2100 B.C. The city had encountered four stages of civilization and was burnt 3 times.

A new approval to open the Biology program in Zahedan took several years of extra hard work and paper work, from several sincere university administrators, including Dr Sangtarash (former Vice Chancellor, education) and Dr Valizadeh (former Director, postgraduate studies), with strong support form the Chancellor of the university, Dr Akbari.
Eventually, in 2003, these attempts gave fruit and the University of Sistan and Baluchistan was permitted to open a Biology Department with one program in General Biology at that time.

Researchers at Zabol University in Sistan-Baluchestan province have for the first time managed to artificially reproduce Schizothorax fish.
In an interview with ISNA, Gholamreza Nouri, a faculty member of Zabol University, explained that Schizothorax is an aquatic species and genetic reserve indigenous to Hamoun Wetland in the province.
Marko Scholze, from the University of Bristol’s Department of Earth Sciences, and the paper’s lead author, said the findings revealed a direct link between rises in global temperature and damage to ecosystems.
